From the Desk of Mrs. Moehling
I cannot believe that it is already October! The first month of school just flew by. As you are aware, homework is coming home every night. Please make sure that your child answers every question. It is better to attempt an answer rather than leave it blank. Your child’s homework should not take more than thirty to forty minutes to complete. If it is, please let me know! Also, the Harvest Party planning team will begin meeting to discuss the party. The Harvest Party will be October 28th. The team will meet during morning recess, and will meet twice a week. If your child is on the party team, please make sure to check to see what they need to bring. I will be sending home a note with the items they signed up for! Upcoming Units The 3rd grade just completed chapter one of math. This month they will begin chapter two. – Adding to Solve Problems. We will also continue with our first unit in reading. Starting next week, your child will bring home a RED folder which will have a weekly reading assignment. In Social Studies we will continue to discuss communities. We will also learn about elections! In Science we will continue with our discussion on weather. The 3rd grade will also learn how to write, and type, a personal narrative Homework Please make sure that your child uses their assignment notebooks when doing their homework. This helps keep missing assignments to a minimum. Also, please make sure that your child completes the correct assignment. The page numbers will always be written in their assignment notebooks, so it makes a great reference. If an assignment is not completed, the 3rd grader will spend 1st recess finishing it up. Late assignments will result in the loss of one point. Agriscience Day On Oct. 14th the 3rd grade will take an hour to visit Badger High for Agriscience grade. The students will be teaching the 3rd grade many cool things from the science of a taco to veterinary sciences. This is such an awesome experience and we are so excited to be a part of it. Since it is a short visit, the class will be chaperoned by myself and one other staff member! Welcome back to school! I am so excited for another fun filled year!
Here are a few reminders! * Assignment notebooks have been ordered and should be in soon. Please send $3 with your child. Students are required to purchase one. They will be responsible for getting their assignment notebook initialed every evening. * Homework will be assigned nightly. Plan on your students having math homework along with a weekly reading assignment. * Late work does result in a loss of 1st recess, even if the work is dropped off later. Please try to refrain from bringing your students work in later on during the day. In 3rd grade we really work on responsibility and ownership. * If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. Communication is vital in order to have a successful school year! |
