3rd Grade The 3rd grade has come such a long way since the beginning of the school year. I am so proud of how independent the students are becoming. Keep up the good work, 3rd graders! New Units Math: We will be learning geometry! This is such a fun unit, and I know the 3rd graders will enjoy it. It is important that your child continue to practice multiplication facts as well! Social Studies: We will learn about Communities at Work. Science: The 3rd grade will continue with matter. In addition to our classroom unit, we will also be having Mr. George Mroch, a master gardener, come in to teach us about seed planting. This is part of the Walworth County Fair “Come Grow with Us” program. He will visit us again in May as well to transfer plants into a class container. For this project, the 3rd grade will plant, and tend to their seeds. They will also create a class sign which will be submitted for the fair. We will need a volunteer family to take care of our flowers over the summer, and bring them to the fair. You will receive instructions on what to do, once that time comes! If you are interested, please contact me right away! Reading: We will work in our textbooks for the month, learning about genres, main ideas, and summarizing. Writing: The 3rd grade will begin writing their endangered species reports. They will study how to write a report in English class, but they need to do a good amount of their research at home. They will be typing their reports at school. As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me at [email protected].
